Fatal CNS toxoplasmosis in a homosexual man

Peyton Delaney, MD, Samuel Neeley, MD and Robert Schwartz, MD

Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology (Drs. Delaney and Neeley), and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Dr. Schwartz), University of Texas Health Science Center, and Neurology Section (Dr. Delaney), Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital, San Antonio, TX.

A compromised cellular immunity associated with an increased frequency of tumors and fatal opportunistic infections has recently been reported in homosexual men. We studied a homosexual man with fatal CNS toxoplasmosis to emphasize the value of CT in CNS toxoplasmosis and to alert heurologists to potentially curable opportunistic infections.

Address correspondence and reprint requests to Dr. Delaney, 4499 Medical Dr., Suite 255, San Antonio, TX 78229.

Accepted for publication November 23, 1982.
