We studied in rats the effect of 3-O-methyldopa (OMD) on levodopa-induced rotations after unilateral destruction of the nigrostriatal pathway. Pretreatment of rats with OMD significantly reduced the number of rotations induced by levodopa, compared with the number of rotations obtained in the same rats with levodopa alone.
