Departments of Neurology (Drs. Rizzo and Bosch) and Surgery, Division of Neurosurgery (Dr. Gross), University of Iowa College of Medicine, Iowa City, IA.
We describe a woman who had isolated facial numbness that was caused by a spontaneous dural external carotid cavernous sinus fistula. The unusual syndrome mimicked trigeminal sensory neuropathy and was attributed to vascular compromise of the gasserian ganglion.
