The primary cellular immune responses in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients as compared with healthy controls were investigated with a-HPH and DNCB sensitization tests. The results did not reveal significant differences, indicating that no defect or hyperactive state of the cellular immune system is present in MS patients. Some minor and not significant differences between groups of patients or controls could be related to age differences and the degree of invalidism.
